Gilas Men cruise past Malaysia to open campaign on a strong note

Gilas Pilipinas Men started their redemption campaign in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games with a 94-49 romp over Malaysia Tuesday in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. 

Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser led a balanced effort from the national team with 15 points alongside five rebounds. Justin Brownlee added 11 points while Arvin Tolentino chipped in 10 points. 

Mike Phillips had an impactful Gilas debut as he tallied nine points, 15 rebounds, five steals, and two blocks. 

The Philippines dominated the contest right from the opening tip and never looked back. 

Gilas is now 1-0 in Group A. The top two teams of each group will advance to the semifinals. 

The Philippines will take on host Cambodia on Thursday.
