Gilas Pilipinas Men are gearing up for the final window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Asian Qualifiers.

Here’s everything you need to know about Gilas Men and their upcoming campaign in Window 6 of the qualifiers which will be played in the Philippines.

Who will Gilas Men face?

Gilas will play Lebanon on February 24 and Jordan on February 27.

Who is part of the Gilas Men pool?

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) announced the preliminary roster last month for the upcoming window.

Headlining the 24-man pool is newly naturalized Filipino player Justin Brownlee, who is coming off another stellar Finals performance where he led Ginebra to the PBA Commissioner’s Cup, winning his sixth PBA title.

Joining Brownlee are PBA standouts CJ Perez, Chris Newsome, Jamie Malonzo, Roger Pogoy, Calvin Oftana, Arvin Tolentino, Japeth Aguilar, Raymond Almazan, six-time PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo, and reigning MVP Scottie Thompson.

International players Kai Sotto, Jordan Heading, Thirdy and Kiefer Ravena, Ray Parks, Dwight Ramos, and Carl Tamayo are also in the mix. Ange Kouame, the team’s other naturalized center, is also included in the pool, as well as youngsters Kevin Quiambao and Francis Lopez.

The pool also welcomed an injection of new blood with the addition of UAAP stars Schonny Winston, Jerom Lastimosa, and Gilas Youth standout Mason Amos.

What is Gilas Men’s record in the Qualifiers?

The Gilas Men currently hold the third spot in Group E with a 5-3 record fresh off two wins in the fifth window. They recently beat Jordan and Saudi Arabia to claim solo third place behind Lebanon and New Zealand.

The three best teams from Groups E and F, along with the Philippines and Japan, will qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.

The Philippines, being one of the hosts of the tournament, has already qualified.

Gilas Men’s games in the sixth window will be held in the Philippine Arena. Tickets are available via www.smtickets.com or at SM Tickets outlets nationwide.
