The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of Filipino basketball stars. We provide comprehensive programs and pathways for aspiring players, coaches and referees from grassroots development to elite training.

Under the leadership of Coach Norman Black, the SBP is ensuring a steady flow of talent from our grassroots level by conducting clinics around the country that seeks to identify talent early on and teach young kids the Philippine brand of basketball. This program includes building a database of our age group players for both genders and following through the development of their talent by establishing training centers in the different regions of the country that will hone the skills of those identified.
Purpose :
To create a continuous, sustainable, and equitable pathway for young players (ages 10–19) to develop from the grassroots level into potential world class athletes that may or may not be called-up by the Gilas National Teams. The goal is to establish a unified, nationwide system that harmonizes schools, clubs, LGUs, and private clinics/academies under one Philippine basketball curriculum. This will allow all Filipino kids to grow-up learning basketball a particular way(the Philippine brand of basketball), allowing them to connect easily once they find themselves wearing the same uniform.
The mandate of the coaches academy is to train and accredit coaches. Spearheaded by no less than Jong Uichico, the program accredits at least 1,000 coaches every year who go through his coaching seminars and sit for the exam.
Purpose:
To raise the standard of Philippine basketball, specifically in coaching, by introducing a structured education and accreditation system that empowers coaches to train athletes with excellence, consistency, and integrity.
This is done through its Triple A System: Academy is where we teach them how to be coaches, Accreditation is how test to see if they are up to standards, and Assessment is evaluation them to ensure continuous improvement and growth.
As a result, we want to see a national pool of SBP-certified, technically sound, and ethically grounded coaches capable of developing athletes to international standards.
The goal of the Technical Academy is to to ensure competent technical officials for Philippine basketball in all levels of competition. Pathways for our game officials, table officials, and statisticians to qualify for international competition s are also mapped-out by the academy to help support their careers.
Purpose :
To build a professional and standardized corps of technical officials who uphold integrity, fairness, and excellence in every basketball event in the country. This should ensure that the country’s competition standards are always at par or even better than that of the international landscape. Integrity in competitions will always be upheld.
The main goal is to A self-sustaining national system developing competent and ethical technical officials, ensuring consistency and credibility across all levels of Philippine basketball.
