Clarkson, Sotto headline 13 Gilas Men players flying to Beirut

Filipino-American NBA player Jordan Clarkson of the Utah Jazz headlines the Gilas Pilipinas Men lineup headed to Lebanon for the upcoming fourth window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Asian Qualifiers.

Kai Sotto of the Adelaide 36ers also banners the national team, flanked by Gilas mainstays Kiefer Ravena, Thirdy Ravena, Bobby Ray Parks, Carl Tamayo, and Dwight Ramos.

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) executive director Sonny Barrios announced the 13-man roster during the Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum on Monday. 

Also joining the lineup are last season’s PBA Most Valuable Player Scottie Thompson and Japeth Aguilar of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and Calvin Oftana of the NLEX Road Warriors.

Set to make their Gilas 5-on-5 debuts are Meralco Bolts guard Chris Newsome, NorthPort Batang Pier’s Jamie Malonzo, and Roosevelt Adams who last played with Terrafirma Dyip. 

The 12-man lineup for the game against Lebanon will be finalized during the technical meeting on August 24. 

The Philippines currently holds a 2-2 record in Group E.

Gilas Men will face Lebanon in Beirut on August 26 at 2:00am Manila time before hosting Saudi Arabia on August 29 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
